Found my new favorite deal site

Having a blog and trying to keep it updated can be a rather large task sometimes. I really enjoy going to other online sites and seeing what is new and exciting in the online world. This is also what I hope that people get out of my site. One website that I have stumbled upon and really enjoy going to is CouponChex.com . Their are always updated offers as well as informative essays that talk about products and the best ways to save money on them. Having a place to go that is reliable and has the most current info really makes a difference when making an online purchase. Hope that you enjoy looking through these sites that I have recommended as much as I have.

Fishing Trip, Maui Hawaii

Over the winter holiday I made my way over to Maui to see friends and relax a bit before the new years.  The wind was blowing very hard and the flight over in the 20 passenger twin prop airplane was just what I needed to get waken up at 645am! I flew on Island Air and they made a quick pit stop on Molokai to pick up additional passengers before landing in Kapalua on Maui... Each landing was progressivly more gnarly as the trade winds begun to pick up!

Finally landed on Maui the festivities begun! Good day of volley ball and mai tai drinking started off the vacation.. The next day we went out on the Maui Jim fishing boat in hopes to reel in some mahi mahi.. while we didnt get any fish we scored an epic whale show!  The conditions out on the water were a bit chopy and I was stoked to have my The North Face all weather gear on! I found my jacket and got free shipping on it from http://freeshippingcoupons.us/the-north-face-free-shipping-coupon/

The last day of the trip we went out by Wailea to go snorkel at this amazing cove (see photo). Again the conditions were very choopy and cold! Threw on my The North Face jacket after and immedietly warmed up! Over all an amazing experience and couldnt of asked for a better way to finish off the year!

Relaxing and getting ready for training

After crossing the Kaiwa channel from Molokai to Oahu on Sunday I am just about recovered. The 42 mile race took my crew of 9 paddlers around five and a half hours in a six man outrigger canoe (OC6).

Couple days later I am feeling just about back to normal. Legs and upper body still bit sore but doing okay.  With much more free time now the oc6 season is done, it is time to relax for a few days and start thinking about training for the upcoming race schedule. After paddling the 6man season from regatta through to distance I have learned to importance of staying motivated. There were times during the season that the practice schedule got so intense and team motivation diminished, it was difficult to reach down and keep going.

After speaking to other paddlers and coaches they recommended a variety of cross training activities in order to not burn out on paddling.  Running, swimming, biking, surfing and SUP will be some of the cross training activities.

Also, working with personal trainers and physical therapists early on before the season starts to stay healthy.  I will be training with other paddlers doing cross fit style work outs and downwind runs.

Schedule to come soon.

Preping for Race Season

Coming from a back ground of extreme sports, I usually go out and have fun. In the past I have used training as a tool to get better personally and push my self to go harder on the motocross track or in the ocean.

In years past I have never had the time to really commit to a race series because of work and school obligations.  For winter 2011 through spring 2012, I have decided to take racing seriously and see just how much I can accomplish. My last post shows the races that I plan on competing in.

I plan to document my training schedules, diet, and daily routine to have for my personal reference and for others to use as a tool for their own athletic goals. Knowing just how hard it is to balance racing and work I hope to stick to it and avoid injury to make it through the entire race series.  In the past I have faced challenges paying for the series and staying healthy.  When I have tried in the past with motocross racing, the costs became too great to finish the season.  With oc1 and SUP I hope that costs will be lower. With sponsors for SUP like Pau Hana Surf Supply and Flip Flop Shops Waikiki, I will be able to cut some costs.

Stay tunned to details on how things are going.. Aloha!
